  1. From the Start button, search for the Control Panel and open it.

  3. On the Administrative Tools section, click “Defragment and optimize your device”.
  4. A new window will open, leading you to your computer’s disk drives. Hover your mouse at the lower right corner and click “Change Settings”.
  5. A small window will appear. Here you can choose your desired schedule of defragmentation. You cannot set a specific date though, but you have the liberty to choose the frequency.

 

How to Manually Defrag Your Computer

If you think your computer seems to need a defrag and it’s not yet your schedule, you can do the method manually anytime.

 

  1. Open your Control Panel.
  2. Click “System and Security”.
  3. Click “Defragment and optimize your device” underneath the Administrative Tools.
  4. A new window will open. Click the specific disk drive you want to defragment.
  5. Click “Optimize”.
